The Registration Process
At TRC we believe that registration should be easy, after all your organization has already exerted a great deal of effort into developing and implementing your management system. Here is our checklist for registration:
- Review the available registration bodies that are qualified to audit your organization and standard. Select at least 4 registration bodies to contact for a registration proposal.
- You can contact the registrar directly by phone or some, like TRC, have online questionnaires you can submit to receive a proposal.
- Once you have received the proposals, compare them side by side based on:
- All related costs, present or hidden. Look for fees, annual or otherwise, outside the audit or document review;
- Availability of local assessors (will travel-related expenses apply);
- Obtain references. Are the current clients in your similar industry satisfied with their registrar?
- If you so choose, set up a meeting with the perspective registrars to find a 'good fit'. Then make your decision.
- When selecting TRC as you registration body:
- the contract and proposal will need to be signed and returned.
- once received, you will be contacted to determine when you quality manual will need to be submitted for review. This is based
upon the requested time line for completion of registration;
- upon completion of review and approval of the manual, you will be contact to schedule the registration audit.
- When you achieve registration following successful completion of the registration assessment, your certificate remains valid for a period of
3 years, provided your organization continues to maintain an effective management system and meet requirements of registration.
After Registration
Once your organization has achieved the Certificate of Registration it must be maintained. TRC is required to continue to assess the ongoing implementation and
effectiveness of the management system. This includes not only conducting regularly scheduled surveillance audits, but tracking complaints from your organization or your
customers. At a minimum, your organization must be assessed each 12 month period. Frequency of surveillance audits are generally determined based on continued implementation
and effectiveness, ongoing audit results, number of corrective action requests, or complaints. This means that surveillances could be more frequent than the minimally required
12 months.
